Rubirosa is a small Italian restaurant located in Little Italy's neighborhood of NYC. Serving delicious pasta dishes and one of the best pizzas in New York, it was great fun for us to work on a space which presents classic Italian cuisine in such an innovative way. Our design objective was creation of warm and welcoming neighborhood place which celebrates time in history of Italian emigrants coming to America.
Scope of Work: Exterior and Interior concept creation, Design of costume tables, bar, lighting, grill stations, artworks and painted murals. Management of construction and installations.
A no-nonsense approach and unapologetic pride in Italian-American culture leads Rubirosa to success on every level. The rustic wood floors creak with authenticity, the curved marble bar is perfect for people-watching, and the classic menu tastes as if it were passed down through generations of hard-working nonni. Beneath the barrel-vaulted, pressed-tin ceilings, success seems evident on every plate, like the Rubirosa sandwich of fried chicken cutlets with sweet roasted peppers, slathered with excellent pesto.
